This Is Not a Dance Class
You don't need to know how to dance.
We should probably get that out of the way.
There is no choreography at BNKR.
Nobody is going to teach you eight counts.
Nobody is going to stand at the front of the room performing a combination while you desperately try to reverse-engineer which direction everyone is moving.
You cannot fall behind.
There is nothing to catch up to.
This is not a dance class.
SO WHAT DO I DO?
Move.
That's the uncomfortable answer.
And eventually, hopefully, the liberating one.
Most of us have spent years learning to move correctly.
Sports have technique.
Fitness has form.
Dance has choreography.
Even walking into a nightclub can come with a strange awareness of whether we look like we know what we're doing.
BNKR removes as much of that as possible.
You get your own designated space on the floor.
The room gets dark.
The DJ starts playing.
You begin moving.
How?
However you want.
Step side to side.
Bounce.
Shake.
Jump.
Stretch.
Close your eyes.
Move your arms.
Don't move your arms.
Go hard.
Slow down.
Get weird.
Nobody is grading you.
BUT THERE IS STRUCTURE
Freedom doesn't mean chaos.
Every BNKR session has an arc.
15 / 30 / 15.
We build.
We peak.
We come down.
The DJ shapes the energy through music. The instructor guides the room. Lighting and temperature evolve around you.
There is structure everywhere.
It simply isn't choreography.
Think of it less like following instructions and more like being given a container.
What you put inside it is yours.
WHAT IF I LOOK STUPID?
You might.
So might everyone else.
That's kind of beautiful.
One of the strangest things about adulthood is how rarely we're given permission to use our bodies without needing to be good at something.
Movement becomes exercise, sport, performance or skill.
We wanted somewhere it could simply be movement again.
A dark room helps.
So does loud music.
So does realizing that everyone around you is busy having their own experience.
Eventually, something changes.
You stop asking what you're supposed to be doing.
And start noticing what you actually want to do.
That's when BNKR really begins.
You don't have to be coordinated.
You don't have to be fit.
You don't have to understand techno.
You definitely don't have to call yourself a dancer.
You just have to move.
NOTHING TO MASTER. EVERYTHING TO RELEASE.
